About Twist
Suddenly Twisted is a 2003 APHA and PtHA register mare. Twist is from Alberta Canada, and was imported to California in 2004. In 2006 my mom was giving lessons at this facility in my home town, and found this mare, thin, and in knee deep mud. She was untouched, basically wild and was very afraid. My mom gave the trainer whatever she had in her pocket and took her home. We named her Twist. After the first 90 days of owning her to maintain her weight, my mom broke her. We did everything with this mare, jumping, western pleasure, sorting, and trail riding. But the one thing that mare truly loves is barrel racing. Its ironic how she's strongly cow bred but barrels excite her more. Within 12 years of racing she won between $20,000 in her career.
Since Twist is my moms horse, I really never had any say when in 2018 she was listed for sale. My mom began working full time at a desk type insurance job and couldn't ride due to her disabling auto immune disorder Hashimoto's Disease. She was sold to a wonderful family in Northern California. Ive always believed and lived by the quote from the show Good Lucky Charlie, "If you love someone let them go, if they come back they're yours forever." And in February of 2020 we got a call back from the people we sold her to saying that they were offering her back to us. My mom was gladly blessed to have the money to purchase her back. So two weekends later we came and picked her up. Im blessed to have her back in my life and to continue to barrel race her.
